Will it rain, or will it stay dry? Is this asphalt road just poorly maintained or will it turn into gravel? According to Cervélo, the Caledonia-5 is the perfect bike for all those rides where you’re just not sure what you might encounter. We compared it with six of the best all-road bikes of 2022 to find out whether that and its ULTEGRA Di2 groupset are enough to make it the perfect all-road bike.

An in-depth review of Cervelo's new do-it-all road bike. Here we focus on the mid-priced version with fewer bells and whistles.
Tyre clearance, fender integration, aero design, fast geometry with a more relaxed fit, no toe overlap, Shimano Ultegra Di2 is hard to fault, stock 30 mm tyres, Di2 integration is neat with the mess inside the bars, integrated computer mount.
Press-fit bottom bracket shell, stiffer ride quality, basic wheels for the money, complete bike weight.

The Cervélo Caledonia-5 bridges the gap between performance and endurance superbly
Great looking
Great ride quality – both fast but comfortable
Wide tyres and good wheels
11-34 cassette won't be for everyone
Expensive compared to competitors
Oct 2020 · Stu Bowers
The bike most of us should ride, if we’re being honest with ourselves
Stable ride feel
Massive tyre clearance (even with mudguards)
Ample comfort
A touch heavy at this money

Big rides and rough roads call for a special bike. The Cervelo Caledonia 5 may have been built to tackle Roubaix, but it's just as capable for your ride
